SEPTEMBER: LAST SHOWS OF 2015. AND 2016.

How do!
2015 has been a productive year in more ways than one. As half the band prepare for life with the fruit of our loins in the coming months, we've decided to take a hiatus from playing live in 2016. But! We're squeezing in two final live shows in September before putting on our slippers and settling in to our armchairs - both with our good friends and all-round incredible live act Barringtone:
We can't wait to assuage your ears with our soundmilk one last time. Join us, why don't you?

VIDEO: LIVE AT TRAVELLING MAN

Woah! Check us out. Here are 4 tracks from our last-ever set as a power trio, filmed and recorded by the smashing guys behind Super Smash Hit Records in Travelling Man Comics Shop, Manchester last November. We also wrote some verbiage about influences, inspirations and practicalities of playing electronic music live to go along with the videos for Glasswerk here: http://glasswerk.co.uk/magazine/article/21345/Cantaloupe:+Behind+The+Live+Show/

The gig itself was another cracker courtesy of the peerless Bad Uncle, and also featured our fine friends Cowtown ripping up everything in sight. Check it:

NEW SHOES. I MEAN SHOWS. NEW SHOWS!

Hey there,

We've been delighted by the reaction to 'Labour & Love' (as well as its lovely remixes) in the last week; thanks to everyone who has bought, downloaded and streamed it. We've also enjoyed a healthy amount of radio play with continued support from the BBC's Gideon Coe bolstered by plays from Steve Lamacq and Dean Jackson, as well as The Breakdown in Sheffield. Cheers!

Our minds are currently focussed on sorting out some UK shows in April, May and June to support the release of the album... which reminds me that I need to tell you 'Zoetrope' will be released on Hello Thor Records on 16th March! We have a veritable smorgasbord of gigs coming up and some empty slots to fill on Fridays and Saturdays between these too. Do get in touch if you fancy having us round:

AIN'T NO PARTY LIKE A HELLO THOR PARTY

On Saturday 22nd November, in Nottingham...

HELLO THOR AND THE MUSIC EXCHANGE PRESENT:
An evening of swish pop bangers

CANTALOUPE (Hello Thor, Nottingham)
A rare live outing and only their second Nottingham show this year. Experimental pop for middle aged public servants. Kosmische synths and tidy grooves tied together by playfulness and wonder. They'll be playing a bunch of new stuff from their forthcoming debut album.

FISTS (Hello Thor, Nottingham)
Fists have all but disappeared from Nottingham's live music scene over the last year, leaving a void that none can fill. Calling them an exceptional indie rock band would be accurate but sounds far less inspiring than their live performances are. Bits of garage and rockabilly and 90s US lo-fi, sure, but really Fists are just Fists. Thank fuck they're back.

COWTOWN (Audacious Art Experiment, Leeds)
Post-punk/electro-pop joy. Talking Heads without the art school wankery; Devo but focussed entirely on dizzyingly good vibes. The most party band since the B52s. PARTY.

£5 adv - tickets available from http://www.wegottickets.com/event/292984.
Tickets also available from The Music Exchange with no booking fee!

7th DECEMBER 2013

One more Nottingham-centric show for 2013, courtesy of our dutiful Hello Thor paymasters! After the debut of "0891 50 50 50" at Stuck On A Name a couple of weeks, ago we're pulling out all the stops to get another one ready for this gig, currently known as "Gustave" for reasons known only to Simmo.

BANG! NEW NOTTZ SHOWS ALERT

Awlright?

So, we're going to break cover and play two shows before the end of 2013 to end our exile as a live band.

They're both in Nottingham (sorry, non-Midlands-based friends) and feature some of our favourite bands and friends:

ON SATURDAY 12th OCTOBER 2013
We shall play this:
And it will be great. It's also Bees Make Honey Creative Collective's official after party for their incredible week of events, Memories of the Future, a pop-up space exploring the relationship between traditional analogue formats & the digital revolution within the independent creative sector. In addition to our lil' gig, there will be...
- A shop & exhibition space for music, photography, books, zines & graphic novels
- A mini 3 seat cinema for moving image work (fiction, docs, music videos & more)
- Analogue & digital workshops
- Live performances
- Pro-active chat
So go and check it out! Here's a F**book event for the gig too.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

ON THURSDAY 21st NOVEMBER 2013
We shall play in support of Grumbling Fur and Health & Efficiency at The Maze. We're super-chuffed to have been asked to do this as it's being organised by our favourite record shop and now events promotions guru, The Music Exchange. Here's a F**book event for this one.

We might even play a new song if you're nice.

Joy!

MY GIG WITH MARVIN

Ok fellas, here's the skinny on our next gig:

Good grief! We're delighted to be welcoming back to Nottingham one of our favourite bands:

MARVIN
http://marvin.bandcamp.com/
MARVIN are Emilie, Greg and Fred from Montpellier, France, combining drums, analogue synths, guitars and vocoders. Think Trans Am, Golden, Led Zep, Devo. Part stadium rock, part synth pop, part MAD PARTY VIBEZ. They have been playing 200+ shows a year for the last 5 years all over the world (China?! The Caribbean?!) and it's super exciting to finally have them back in Nottingham.

CANTALOUPE

http://cantaloupe.bandcamp.com/
More synth/guitar/drums action from Nottingham's fourth best, second laziest but first sexiest band. Fresh back from the kind of European tour that gives a man a permanent thousand yard stare, be prepared for tight tropico-sympa grooves and a slightly unsettling air of psychosis.

HANG

Nottingham's hotte$t new band. Transcendental repeato-riffs and primal boogie for fans of all things cyclical.

Tickets will be £5 on the door. This will be part of Chameleon's grand reopening, after they will have been closed to redecorate for all of 11 days! Nick's got a late licence all weekend and there'll be DJs until 3am. Cripes!

See you there xx

11th MAY 2013: WILL BE OFFICIALLY THE BEST DAY EVER

Well, so say us anyway. Oh yeah! This is why:

HELLO THOR RECORDS PRESENTS
A 12" Launch Party

CANTALOUPE
I AM LONO
THE CUSP

With live visuals from KNEEL BEFORE ZOD

£6 pre-order ticket includes 12" and download code!
http://hellothor.limitedrun.com/tickets/81-cantaloupe-12-launch-party-saturday-11th-may-2013

£4 on the door

We are delighted to announce the release of HT016, a floor-filling 12" by Cantaloupe.

Featuring two tracks produced by Fletcher & Wells (Nottingham's answer to Stock, Aitken and Waterman) and a remix by Wax Stag, this sensual slab of vinyl is krautrock taken to its illogical boogie conclusion. Ridiculous, but totally bangin'.

Also joining us will be Nottingham synth-pop misanthropes I AM LONO:
http://www.facebook.com/ILIKELONO

And shoe-gazing hot stuff THE CUSP:
http://thecusp.bandcamp.com/

And there'll be live visuals from obscure cinema renegades THE KNEEL BEFORE ZOD VIDEO CLUB OF NOTTINGHAM CLUB!
http://www.facebook.com/KNLBFRZD

Bring cake! See you there xx

-------------

That's right, advance tickets are now on sale at http://hellothor.limitedrun.com/tickets/81-cantaloupe-12-launch-party-saturday-11th-may-2013. For £6 you'll get into the gig, we'll give you a beautiful 12" single with download codes on the night, plus you'll get an immediate download of Splish, right now. We've purposely held back on sending out promos or uploading Splish onto any streaming sites so that anyone buying a ticket for the show gets an EXCLUSIVE first listen. And as it's the best thing we've ever done (he says, modestly) and may ever do, we're just a tad proud of it. Enjoy!

THIS IS THE NEWS: Splish/Wet Dog 12" on its way!

Bosh!

Christ, it's been quiet since a fantastic gig at the Sebright Arms in London, courtesy of those wonderful Burn The Jukebox fellas. Cheers lads, etc.

It's been so quiet because we've been locked away in the studio, putting the finishing touches to our next release... which will be a fancy black floor-filling disco-tastic 12" which will be HT016 on Hello Thor, to be released this summer, probably in early June.

Splish has been our set-closer for every gig we've played since we wrote it and is everyone's favourite song. Wet Dog is a jazz/dub/acid mongrel that confuses everyone but inspires love in that strange way that only slightly misshapen and quirky crossbreeds can. Both have received the magic Fletcher/Wells treatment, with Wax Stag weighing in his own version of Splish to up the stardust-sprinkled feeling. Needless to say, we're immensely proud of this one.

So we're going to have a party to celebrate it, joined by our good friends I Am Lono and The Cusp. Full details to be posted ASAP, but live! updates! for the event at the inimitable Chameleon Arts Cafe in Nottingham on Saturday 11th May can be found on ye Facebook...

And what after that? Well, we thought we might as well go and CONQUER EUROPE while we're at it. So look out for some TOUR DATES soon, yeah?

OXJAM - LIVE & LOCAL AT THE LOCK

Aloha!

We had a blast at Music From Elsewhere at the weekend, despite being woefully underprepared for the freezing conditions by the time we got around to playing. We've now just about recovered from a brilliant and exhausting day. Much love to Lancashire & Somerset for hosting us and our huge contingent of fellow performers, friends and family from Nottingham... as well as the fantastic other acts on the day.

NEXT UP: "LIVE AND LOCAL AT THE LOCK", courtesy of OXJAM - at The Navigation, Nottingham on Friday 12th October. We're hugely flattered to have been asked to play an event aiming to raise £500 towards a library. We'll be playing with a huge host of wide-ranging acts, there will be opportunities to choose the tunes between bands in exchange for a donation to OXJAM, and - most importantly - you'll be able to stuff your face with unfeasibly good food courtesy of the incredible Annie's Burger Shack until 8:30pm. Expect to see our stomachs groaning and a smacked-out look of satisfaction on our faces by the time we take to the stage.
